Hangar 9 Valiant 20cc EP ARF Introduction

The original Hangar 9^® Valiant 30cc was a beloved and highly reviewed model due to its classic yet modern looks, as well as unexpected aerobatic capability, plus smooth and stable flight performance. However, the 108-inch wingspan made it difficult for many pilots to store and transport. The Valiant 20cc is a scaled-down version with an 86.5 inch (2.2m) wingspan that still offers a giant-scale experience - but in a more practical size for everyday flying. It features the advantages of lightweight, stiff, and strong wood construction that's covered with genuine UltraCote film. Plus, it's available in an ARF version that allows you to install the glow, petrol, or electric power system and electronics you prefer, or in a time and money-saving EP PNP version that's equipped with six factory-installed Spektrum servos, a 4S-6S compatible Avian motor, and a Smart ESC.

The Valiant design is well known for its proven versatility due to its incredibly smooth and stable flying manners, yet also unexpected and excellent aerobatic capability. A semi-symmetrical airfoil provides outstanding handling and wind penetration, while the operational flaps can deliver STOL-like takeoff and landing performance. The flaps can also travel both ways so they can be mixed for optional use as full-span ailerons, flaperons, and spoilerons. Flaps up, the Valiant is a sport flying and aerobatic dream machine with crisp roll performance and excellent rudder authority for impressive knife edge passes - especially for a high-wing model. Like its larger and smaller brothers, the Valiant 20cc delivers an overall rock-solid feel in the air that's perfect for a wide range of intermediate to advanced pilots!

The ARF version arrives mostly factory assembled with pre-installed hinges and bolt-on tail surfaces that save you considerable time and effort. It also allows you to install a 20cc petrol engine, similar-class glow engines, or an equivalent electric power system and the electronics you prefer. The PNP version saves you even more time because it doesn't require any glue for assembly and is equipped with six factory-installed digital and metal-geared Spektrum A6380 servos, a 4S-6S compatible Avian 5065-450Kv outrunner motor, and a 100-amp Smart ESC that can provide a variety of power system related telemetry data with Smart and non-Smart batteries via compatible receivers and Spektrum AirWare-equipped transmitters.

Both versions include simple yet durable aluminium landing gear with optional-use wheel pants. You also have the option to install floats with a silver-painted finish using the custom float strut set (sold separately). The balsa and lite-ply airframe arrives factory-finished with genuine UltraCote film covering and a variety of features, including a large and convenient top-mounted windshield hatch, a painted-to-match fibreglass cowl, plus LED navigation lights. It all adds up so the Valiant 20cc is sure to become a hero around your club and field as the model to have - no matter what flying occasion may arise!
