PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The E-flite Timber 1.5m 10th Anniversary Special Edition celebrates the release of one of the most popular and best-selling RC aircraft of all time! All the popular features from the original Timber 1.5m are there: shock-absorbing landing gear with oversized, tundra-style wheels; an optional-use float set and leading edge slats; functional slotted flaps; and an LED lighting system with landing, navigation, and strobe lights. So are the enhancements that gave the Turbo Timber 1.5m more performance and capabilities, including a more powerful 3S and 4S 2200-5000mAh compatible power system, and a stiffer wing. Now this Special Edition adds a top-mounted hatch for faster, easier battery changes, plus combined connectors for simpler wing installation and removal. Strengthened landing gear mounts, along with heavier-duty springs, improve the model's durability and STOL capability when flying from rough terrain. Plus, it also features the iconic short-nose and trim scheme design for a now "classic" look!
Both versions feature more reliable and durable metal-geared servos, a 3S and 4S compatible motor, and a higher-capacity 70-amp Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC. The BNF Basic version includes a factory-installed AR631+ receiver featuring exclusive and enhanced AS3X+ along with optional-use SAFE Select technologies. The receiver also delivers real-time telemetry, including overall battery voltage, current, and more to compatible transmitters - with Smart and non-Smart batteries - plus motor/thrust reversing for special ground handling and other capabilities. Hollow-core EPO construction with composite reinforcement results in a lightweight yet strong airframe that makes it capable of handling a wide variety of aerobatic maneuvers while keeping the wing loading low for impressive Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) and slow flight performance. You can even install the optional-use leading edge slats for improved slow-flight performance, or the included floats so you can fly from water too. BNF Basic - Skill Level 2 Next Step
Skill Level 2 "Next Step" aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who have successfully learned to fly a trainer model and those with the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. Although this is a relatively smooth and stable model, it's not suitable as a first RC aircraft for new pilots. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly a trainer model like the HobbyZone AeroScout 1.1m and Carbon Cub 1.3m, or more advanced trainer models like the E-flite Apprentice STS 1.5m and Habu STS 70mm EDF, before attempting to fly the Timber 1.5m 10th Anniversary Special Edition BNF Basic version.
PNP - Skill Level 3
Skill Level 3 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for more experienced RC pilots who already have the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. This PNP version requires more experience and skills to assemble and fly than the BNF Basic version because you will need to install a receiver that does not already include properly tuned AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly a trainer model like the HobbyZone AeroScout 1.1m and Carbon Cub 1.3m, or more advanced trainer models like the E-flite Apprentice STS 1.5m and Habu STS 70mm EDF, before attempting to fly the Timber 1.5m 10th Anniversary Special Edition PNP version.
Short Takeoff and Landing Capable
The Timber's wing incorporates features like drooped wingtips and functional slotted flaps, and accepts the optional-use leading edge slats (included) for improved slow flight and STOL performance. These features, along with the lightweight design and high-power brushless motor, make it possible to spring into the air or float down to land in as little as a few feet or less.
Flexible Power
The factory-installed brushless power system features a Spektrum Avian 70-amp Smart Lite ESC along with a specially-tuned motor and 2-blade prop that deliver an abundance of thrust with a 3S LiPo battery, or more power and unlimited vertical performance with a 4S battery without the need for any modifications or upgrades. Plus, the more convenient top hatch and larger battery compartment make it easier to fit batteries from 3S 2200mAh to 4S 5000mAh to achieve a wide variety of performance and flight times.
Easy Assembly
Assembly requires no glue, and because the few parts that need assembly easily bolt into place, you can have the Timber 1.5m ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge the flight battery. The two-piece wing, now featuring combined servo and LED connectors, also makes transport and storage more convenient than ever before.
Versatile Gear Options
Thick grass, gravel paths, dirt trails - even local lakes and ponds - you can fly off these and many other surfaces that are impossible for most models of this size to handle. The stronger, reinforced mounts in the fuselage, combined with shock-absorbing landing gear equipped with heavier-duty springs, absorb the bumps of rough surfaces and not-so-great landings. The oversized, tundra-style wheels and tyres provide excellent prop clearance, and the included float set features dual water rudders for superb steering control. Whichever gear option you choose to fly with, you can install both easily and swap them out in minutes.
LED Lights
Like the original, the Timber 1.5m 10th Anniversary Special Edition comes with realistic-looking LED landing, navigation, and strobe lights that are factory-installed and powered from the flight battery.
Bind-N-Fly Completion Level
Already own a Spektrum transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos, and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed, so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly!
Smart Technology
Both the PNP and BNF Basic versions of the Timber 1.5m 10th Anniversary Special Edition are equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian 70-amp Smart Lite ESC that can provide a provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more - with Smart and non-Smart batteries - via compatible receivers (including the AR631+) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly.
Plug-N-Play Completion Level
The Plug-N-Play (PNP) version comes out of the box with a factory-installed power system and servos that are ready to connect to the compatible receiver of your choice (sold separately), plus the transmitter and battery you provide (also sold separately). Simply install the receiver, finish any final assembly, and fly!
